Sushant Singh mastered his acting skills in Ebrahim Elkazi’s “The Living Theatre Academy” and commenced his film-career with Jabbar Patel’s film “Dr. Ambedkar” wherein he played close friend’s character of southern superstar Mammooty. He came into limelight with Ram Gopal Verma’s “Satya” where he bagged lots of buzz for his acting. And then there was no looking behind for go-getter Sushant. “Jungle”, “Kuan”, “16 December”, “Legend of Bhagat Singh”, “Dum”, “Josh”, “Darna Mana Hain”, Lakshya”, “Samay”, “Matrubhoomi”, “Ram Gopal Verma ki Aag” and list continues. Recently, his film “Toss” was released and his up-coming films are “Mohandas” and “Baabarr”. With the interaction with us, he discussed about his films, personal life, recent releases and forthcoming films.

Tell us about your film “Mohandas”.

“Mohandas” is about a person who is fighting for his identity. Someone else is living his life, working, and enjoying fringe benefits, which actually belong to main lead (Mohandas). It is the kind of a story that everyone can connect to. It portrays an issue that is deep-rooted in country like India, which resides so much of population. I play the character of ‘Bisnath’ who helps “Mohandas” to get back his identity.

“Mohandas” has a huge star-cast. How was your experience working with them?

The experience was absolute fun. Nakul and Sonali both are fabulous actors in their own way. And it is always fun to work with people from whom you can learn and share.

How was working with Director Mazhar Kamran?

I have worked with him in initially in films “Kuan” and “Satya”. He was cinematographer in both respective films. He is a good filmmaker and that comes across from the quality of work he has come up with. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him.

This film is presented by Rishi Sidhi films and is directed by Ashu Trikha. I play the character of gangster Tarbeez it is a complete power-packed character. After a long time I am playing such a character.

For film “Jungle” you clutched Popular Award, can we expect other from “Barbarr”?

One can predict things. Both of my coming films are good and I have fulfilled my role.

Baarbarr also stars veteran actors like Om Puri and Mithun. You must have felt obliged to work with them.

Yes, certainly. I enjoyed and at the same time I learnt a lot from both of them. But, I am lucky enough to play a character that has lots to offer and doesn’t fade out in front of them.

Is this film inspired from a true story?

Yes it is based on true story. Director Ashu has shot on the real locations giving it an absolute factual and authentic touch. Soham has really acted well in the film.

Except “Mohandas” and “Baarbarr” what are your other projects?

‘Mumbai cutting’, ‘Mirch’, ‘Patshaala’, ‘Idiot box’ and ‘Lahore’ are few to name.
