Anil Kapoor ‘thrilled’ to be part of ‘Strange New Things’

Anil Kapoor has been roped in to play for a key role in Amazons upcoming sci-fi drama pilot based on Michel Fabers cult hit book “The Book of Strange New Things”. The actor says he is thrilled to be a part of it.

“So thrilled to be a part of the storm that Amazon’s kicking up with it’s original digital content! ‘Strange New Things’ Amazon Prime Video India,” Anil tweeted on Tuesday evening.

The 59-year-old actor will be seen playing the role of Vikram Danesh, the authoritative head of the base on Oasis, joining previously announced Richard Madden and Haley Joel Osment, reports deadline.com.

Anil promised that his role will be different from whatever he has done till now.

“Starting work on this exciting new adventure soon! It’s definitely going to be different from whatever I have done till now!” he wrote.

The yet to be titled TV adaptation follows a priest who is sent into space to help found a new colony but what he ends up discovering not only puts his faith to the test but life as we know it.

Matt Charman (“Bridge of Spies”) is writing the pilot and he is also an executive producer. Kevin MacDonald of “The Last King of Scotland” fame will direct it. The one-hour drama pilot is a co-production of Amazon Studios and Left Bank Productions.

The “Slumdog Millionaire” star says the role in the series is very complex.

“The next chapter begins…’Strange New Things’! One of the most complex characters I’ve ever played!” he added.
