Singer Ed Sheeran has returned to social media after a gap of a year.

In December 2015, Sheeran announced he was taking a break from social media. But for the first time in 12 months, he updated his Twitter and Instagram by posting a cryptic blue image, reports aceshowbiz.com.

The “Thinking out loud” hitmaker also changed his Twitter, Facebook and Instagram image into the same shade of blue.

Fans immediately expressed their delight. One Twitter user wrote: “Welcome back Ed Sheeran. Took long enough.”

Another one tweeted: “I can’t wait for whatever it is.”

Some fans speculated that the blue image was a clue about Sheeran’s next album. A fan tweeted: “OK the album will be blue… what else'”
