“Surgical Strike”, a film based on 2016 Uri terror attack, is scheduled for a release in December.

The film will feature Deepraj Rana, Mir Sarvar, Lakha Lakhwinder Singh, Jimmy Sharma, Sanjay Singh, Amit Pathak and Vedita Pratap Singh as army officers.

Last year, a terror attack at an army base in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri killed 17 soldiers. The Indian Army retaliated with surgical strikes 11 days later.

Under the banner of Crystal Movies, “Surgical Strike” is directed by Suzad Iqbal Khan.

The film has been co-produced by Vijay Valbhnai and Sonu Jain.

“It’s an honour to execute on this vision and what we believe is an engaging and thrilling story inspired by this true life incident,” Jain said in a statement.

“Indian Army had many sub tactical strikes but this mission is one of the most successful ground mission till now. Apart from the thriller mission there is the basic life of these brave soldiers during the mission how bravely they made it possible and how strong the Indian Army is,” Valbhnai added.

Another film based on the same subject is in the making titled “Uri”, starring Vicky Kaushal, which is expected to release next year in September 2018, around time of the second anniversary of the Uri attacks.
