The three leads of the movie “Moonlight” share a role, but they never shot together.
The three actors who play the character Chiron, the protagonist, through the three stages of his life — Trevante Rhodes, 26, Ashton Sanders, 20, and Alex R. Hibbert 12, hadn’t properly meet until after the film was finished.
The only link between the three actors, as director Barry Jenkins, explains, was their eyes.
“I really wanted them to be different people. Same character, different people. But there was this spiritual, cosmic connection through the eyes,” Jenkins said in a statement.
A timeless story of human connection and self-discovery, “Moonlight” chronicles the life of a young black man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighbourhood of Miami.
The film will release in India on February 17.
