The first two phases in which the ticket sales for the Global Citizen Festival India 2016 were opened for online booking are now sold out.

BookMyShow, an online entertainment ticketing brand, opened its ticket counter to the public on Thursday itself with the limited early bird tickets priced at Rs 5000 each.

The festival will be headlined by the British rock band Coldplay.

“BookMyShow is elated and overwhelmed by the response received towards the online ticketing for the Global Citizen Festival India 2016 as we saw unprecedented demand and traffic on its platforms. Just as we had expected and foreseen, Phase 1 and Phase 2 tickets were sold out within a very short period of time, for both the Silver and Gold categories.

“Our queue management system efficiently managed, sustained and streamlined the demand and traffic of over 150,000 people, allowing thousands of lucky BookMyShow users to get their tickets to the most anticipated event this year,” a spokesperson of BookMyShow said in a statement.

Making its maiden appearance in India, the festival is a collaboration between The Global Education & Leadership Foundation and Global Citizen. It will be held at the MMRDA grounds, Mumbai on November 19.

The event, produced by Wizcraft International, will also feature performances by the hip-hop legend Jay Z, and Bollywood stars Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor along with music maestro A. R. Rahman, music composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and singers like Arijit Singh and Monali Thakur.
