Web series gets Gujarati flavour

Breaking the clutter in the burgeoning Hindi web series market in India comes “Kacho Papad Pako Papad” — a Gujarati show on the digital platform.

It is being brought by SonyLIV, the digital platform of Sony Pictures Networks India, which had earlier launched “YOLO” in Marathi, read a statement.

“Regional content consumption is growing rapidly and with access to faster internet speeds, this growth will only amplify further. To cater to this emerging demand, we decided to launch India’s first-ever rom-com Gujarati web-series ‘Kacho Papad Pako Papad’,” Uday Sodhi, Executive Vice President and Head – Digital Business at Sony Pictures Networks India Pvt Ltd, said.

The series is based on the dilemmas of an average, middle-class joint Gujarati family. It features actors Rupa Divatia, Pratap Sachdeo and Bhakti Rathod.

“The show underlines our brand promise of providing the best in entertainment to our viewers, with engaging and relatable content tailor-made to suit their entertainment and language preferences. We hope our viewers enjoy the series, one of the many firsts in our business,” Sodhi added.

Starting on Friday, the series will be spread across a 12-week duration, with each episode spanning six to eight minutes.
