November 23, 2010 : Actress Snigdha Akolkar, the popular face of Hindi soap ‘Hare Kkaanch Ki Choodiyaan’ will soon be seen enacting a full fledged role for the Tollywood screen for the first time. Though the movie audience in Tamil Nadu is already acquainted with her face after the actress’ item number for Mysskin’s ‘Anjathey’, ‘Nandalala’, also directed by Mysskin, will be her first major role for the silver screen. Speaking to the media, Snigdha Akolkar says that ‘Nandalala’ is special not only because it introduces her as an actress, but also because this was her first brush with Tamil cinema, though the item number of ‘Anjathey’ was released prior to ‘Nandalala’.
Speaking on her experience of working with Mysskin, the Mumbai based actress recalls how difficult he made life for her after she was told that she would have to walk barefoot on thorns, a requirement for the character that she was portraying. And since she has worked so hard on ‘Nandalala’, Snigdha Akolkar is keeping her fingers crossed as her first film gears up to hit the screens theaters soon.
Snigdha Akolkar has been modeling in Mumbai prior to her stint on Indian television. And it was after watching her on ‘Hare Kkaanch Ki Choodiyaan’ that Tollywood director Mysskin approached the actress with the role in ‘Nandalala’. So what’s next on her agenda now as she has completed work in Chennai? Snigdha also has a Bollywood film in her kitty. Titled ‘Love U… Mr Kalakaar’, the film is from the Sooraj Barjatya production house.
