Accident to hit box-office

Published on

Last week’s release, Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘3 Idiots’ and James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ have stormed the nation and have full potential to rule the roost in the weeks to come. Both the movies have left an indelible mark on the minds of not just movie-goers but also, those who seldom visit cinema halls. The respective business of both movies has shown a great leap as far as the overall box-office status in recent times is concerned. So, to pull the attention of the audience in the midst of ultra-strong contenders would certainly not be a cake-walk. Let’s have a look at the coming releases this week and see who has potential to reach that height or slightly near it.

Accident on Hill Road: is filled with an unconventional star cast Farooq Shaikh, Celina Jaitley and Abhimanyu Shekhar Singh. It’s a suspense thriller which claims to be path-breaking with a woman (Celina Jaitley) portrayed in negative light, who hits a man (Farooq Shaikh) and disappears in the dark along with boyfriend Abhimanyu Shekhar Singh. What happens next is interesting to witness. However, something which is not going in the favor of this film is poor promotions and so-called intelligent star-cast which will make the audience think twice before buying tickets.

Bolo Raam: marks the comeback of Padmini Kolhapure. But the fact that ‘Bolo Raam’ stands no chance at the box-office is mainly for its unusual star-cast of Rishi Bhutani and Disha Pandey, who are in the lead roles. Om Puri and Govind Namdeo are in the film too, but let’s be practical they are just the pulling forces of the film. ‘Bolo Raam’ might have a superb storyline, but it won’t stand a chance among the competition out there.

Raat Gayi Baat Gayi: A Pritish Nandy Communications productions, Saurabh Shukla’s direction, a good star cast comprising Rajat Kapoor, Neha Dhupia and Vinay Pathak is enough to bring cine-goers to cinema halls. What adds to the advantage are the promos which make ‘Raat Gayi Baat Gayi’ look promising. But again endeavors to promote the film are minimal, which might be dangerous for the film. A word of mouth and good reviews can work wonders if the film is rich in content.
