‘Bombairiya’ has a very fresh approach to our city says Radhika Apte

Radhika Apte says her upcoming comedy-drama, ‘Bombairiya‘ has a very fresh approach towards our fast-paced Mumbai city.

Radhika interacted with media on Wednesday at the trailer launch of her upcoming film, ‘Bombairiya’ alongside co-star Siddhant Kapoor, Akshay Oberoi, and director Pia Sukanya and more.

When asked what makes ‘Bombairiya’ different and new where we have seen comedy in subject films like ‘Badhaai Ho’ and thrillers like ‘Andhadhun’, Apte said, “I think the film has such characters that we all can associate with them. ‘Bombairiya’ has a very fresh approach towards our city. It is a very entertaining film, I can’t use the word thriller for it, but you keep wondering what is the mystery in the film and that keeps you going. I think Pia (director) and Michael (writer) have a very different sense of humor which we haven’t seen before.”

Radhika who is known to keep reinventing herself and choose new kind of roles will be seen as a PR agent in the film.

When asked how different it was to play a PR in the film and how did Apte prepare for the role, she said, “It was very interesting. When you in PR you trying to interview people and try to investigate into their personal life over their professional, trying to dig information from them in a way and also cover some lies. I have been on the other side all the time and it required a lot of preparation understanding of how she functions.”

Talking about her character she said, “In the film, she is very shrewd, rude smart and manipulative in a way because she knows how to get the work done. But suddenly what happens is some of her personal information is about to get out. So it is quite a twist for her to find empathy for what she is doing with good intentions and her own situation. I think that was very very interesting to play.”

Radhika was last seen in Gauravv K. Chawla’s ‘Baazaar’ along side, Chitrangada Singh, Saif Ali Khan and debutant Rohan Mehra.

Her next ‘Bombairiya’ directed by Pia Sukanya also stars, Siddhant Kapoor, Akshay Oberoi, Ravi Kishan, Adil Hussain, Shilpa Shukla, Ajinkya Deo, and Amit Sial in pivotal roles.
