Arjun Kapoor recently interacted with the media for the promotion of his next film Mubarakan in Mumbai. While speaking in an interview, Arjun stated that filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee was on his wish list.
Ishaqzaade co-stars Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra are reuniting on screen for Dibakar Banerjee’s thriller, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Dibakar Banerjee is known for directing some interesting film across genres like Khosla Ka Ghosla, Shanghai, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, so when asked him about working in that project, Arjun said, “It is very exciting. This is first time me and Parineeti felt to pair with each other again because of the story of the film. Dibakar Banerjee is one such filmmaker who has been on my wish list form long period of time. It will be away from Ishaqzaade. YRF is a home film, Parineeti is special co-star and the material of the film is something different so this combination will make this film more special and I feel when you work with co-actor with whom you have already worked then it needs some kind of freshness so it is interesting space for us and we will start shooting of the film in October”.
The story of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar is about a man and woman, who represents two completely different India’s, and also deals with their love-hate relationship.
Talking about what prompted him to do film like Mubarakan, Arjun replied, “I wanted to work with Anees Bazmee and icing on the cake was having Anil chachu on board and doing double role because that’s the challenge you look for as an actor. The film was not generic and I really believe in script of this film. I really feel it is genuinely funny film and it’s a wholesome family entertainer. I haven’t done something like this earlier, the closest family film that I done was Two States but this slightly more light-hearted and time pass film but in the end this also has some emotions and message to the audience”
When asked about reason why younger actor attempt less comedy films these days unlike Salman Khan and Govinda in their earlier days, Arjun said, “There hasn’t been much written when it comes to comedy films these days. Actor cannot go and sign scripts beyond a point Actor make decision on what is being offered to them and also director has to see potential in you to fulfill it. Anees Bazmee must be having some faith in my performance abilities to offer this film. Comedy is not something that everybody can do”
He added, “I also feel that younger directors also not pan India in their thinking. There upbringing is more digital and they are more into younger thought process and problems of today’s world. Comedy in India always worked when it is relatable to everybody if you see Kapil’s show, he does things that everybody can understand that is why he does so well. It is not at all easy genre to write, produce, direct and act and apart from that sensibilities have also changed of the audience”.
Mubarakan stars Arjun Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Ileana D’Cruz and Athiya Shetty. It is directed by Anees Bazmee.
Mubarakan is releasing on 28 July, 2017.
