I am not from a film background but feel lucky enough not to face any kind of negativity: Kriti Sanon

Kriti Sanon who is pro-equality was present at the F for Freedom MAMI film festival on Monday. During media interaction the actress said, I am not from a film background but feel lucky enough not to face any kind of negativity.

While advising women not to be scared to stand up for themselves, actress Kriti said, “I think equal rights for women will start with standing up for yourself. And when you are confident enough of what you want, things will fall into place. I am not from a film background and I am still here. I have been lucky enough not to face any kind of negativity. I know it exists not just in the film industry but every field and part of the world. As far as you know you deserve it, you will actually get it.”

The ‘Raabta’ actress admitted that she thinks calling films women-centric is unnecessary, “I also have a problem with people calling certain films women-centric because we never call other films as male-centric films. These small things that we do unknowingly matter, they cause this disparity and biased behavior.”

She further adds, “Being a feminist does not just mean you are pro women. It actually means that you are pro equal rights, equality of gender.”

Sanon believes pay in any field should be based on the work that you do and what you bring to the table, she said, “When it comes to films it should be based on how much work you have in the film and how many days or how much hard work you’re putting in. Of course also on the kind of audience, you will bring to the theater. In the end, it all boils down to the number of audiences that comes to watch the film.”
