I really wanted to live Champa Kumari’s life: Radhika Madan

Radhika Madan who is debuting in Bollywood with Vishal Bharadwaj’s Pataakha said she choose to do this film because she really wanted to live Champa Kumari’s life.

Radhika along side costar Sanya Malhotra interacted with media for the film promotion on Monday.

Asked if as a debut film she was hesitant to take such a deglamour role Radhika said, “I chose this film because it is a Vishal Bharadwaj film. It wouldn’t matter even if he asked me to play a mice in the film, I would still do it. Also I really wanted to live Champa Kumari’s life. I didn’t think more than that and just asked him to transform me. And the times have changed nobody really thinks about how glamorous you role has to be for a debut film, people do really appreciate acting now and look for value for money.”

When asked about the reactions ad compliments they have received for the roles , Radhika said, “The biggest compliment for us is that people cannot recognize us in the film. We have had people come up to us to confirm is its us.”

Sanya Malhotra when talking about hr prep for the roles of Chutki said she owes it to her acting couch and director for the transformation. “This role was very challenging for me personally. I am not like this character at all. I did have an elder sister and our relationship was similar but I couldn’t understand this character’s mentality at all. She is very aggressive, and straight forward and I am not like that at all.

So it wasn’t easy for me to come out of the comfort zone and to play her. So I am really grateful and thankful to Atul Mongia sir and Vishal Bharadwaj sir who helped me become chutki through our workshops, improves and shoots.”

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj the film is about a story of two badass sisters. The story about two sisters, Badki and Chhutki and is based on an acclaimed short story by renowned writer Charan Singh Pathik.

The highly-awaited film also stars, Sunil Grover and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles.

The film will release on September 28, 2018.
