Filmmaker Rohit Shetty attended Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards 2017 on Friday in Mumbai. During media interaction, Rohit said that he and his co-judge Karan Johar judge will grow with their upcoming show on Star Plus named ‘India’s Next Superstar’.
Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty are teaming up for a talent hunt show on Star Plus named ‘India’s Next Superstar’. In the show, will see the director duo test aspiring actors and then sign the winners for a film, talking about his upcoming show, Rohit said, “Yes… me and Karan are doing show together. It will be a new format for all of us so we will grow along with show. Right now, selected contestants are being trained by channel and the will telecast in January. We haven’t even shot first episode of that show so, as show progresses, we will experience which contestant is better?”
“Talking about criteria, we will have to see each aspect of it like performance, looks, dance and action. We will be looking out for qualities which is essential to become a superstar so all and all it’s a new format for me, Karan and the channel as well so, we all are excited”
Rohit Shetty will be first time collaborating with Karan Johar and Ranveer Singh for their upcoming film ‘Simba’ which is based on Jr. NTR’s Tamil film ‘Simmba’. In the film, Singh will be essaying the role of a cop called Sangram Bhalerao aka Simmba, so when asked Rohit how he will balance his work life between a reality show and his upcoming film, “Simmba is going to release exactly after one year so what should I talk about that? I feel I will manage to do both things and even I can do anything in between those two projects as well”
Being present at the kids award function, when asked Rohit whether he wants to make films for kids, Rohit replied, “So I made Golmaal film made for whom? When I make films like ‘Golmaal’, I keep kids in my mind as one of my core audience, my films are basically family entertainers so when I say family, it includes kids as well”
When asked Rohit is he still kid by heart, Rohit said, “You haven’t watched my films? See… I feel each person should have essence of kids even after he grows old. I think if he has spirit of a kid then it helps him in his old age and I feel we shouldn’t take our self so seriously. It is better to have energy like kids for all your life”
When asked Rohit, which cartoon characters he used to follow in his childhood, he said, “We have grown up reading ‘Tom & Jerry’ ‘Motu and Patlu’ and I used to relate with all these characters at some point of time during my childhood days”
Rohit Shetty’s last film ‘Golmaal Again’ is one of the biggest blockbuster of 2017 which collected around 309 crores at the box-office.
