Mohammed Aziz passing away is a huge loss for the music industry,” says Singer Shravan Rathod of “Nadeem Sharvan” composer duo, here in Mumbai.

Mohammed Aziz, a Veteran Bollywood singer breathed his last at the age of 64 on Tuesday. The singer suffered a massive Cardiac arrest on his way back to Mumbai from Kolkata. He was rushed to Nanavati Hospital, where he was announced dead.
Playback singer Mohammed Aziz was laid to rest at Santacruz Qabristan at Rafi Sahab’s final resting place.
Music composer Shravan Rathod expressed his grief and sadness over the demise of popular singer Aziz. He said, “Aziz was like a dear friend and brother to me. I just want to say that first Mohammad Rafi left us and now Mohammed Aziz has left the music Industry. He was a good man; his contribution to the film industry is huge, especially to composers like Laxmikanth-Pyarelal, Nadeem Shravan and a lot”
Aziz was a prominent name in the Hindi, Bengali, and Oria film industries. Born in Ashoknagar of West Bengal, Aziz started his playback singing career with Bengali film Jyoti. Later, he moved to Mumbai where he sang for Ambar (1984).
Shravan Rathod also added that Aziz’s crooned songs might be less in number but they are nothing sort of ‘sparkling diamonds”
He said, “It is a huge loss for the music industry. I would like to add here, it doesn’t matter if the work is too little or too much, but whatever work he’d done, the songs he sang, are like sparkling diamonds. He sang for actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun and a lot more”
“I believe that after Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, Manna De and now Mohammed Aziz, I would like to honor him among the great” added Shravan.
Aziz came to limelight after his song Mard Tangewala from Mard (1985) became popular. This was just the beginning of a scintillating career that saw him working with all the top composers from Kalyanji-Anandji to Rajesh Roshan to Nadeem-Shravan.
Songs like Teri Bewafai from Ram Avtar and the title track of Lal Dupatta Malmal Ka made him a popular name among the music lovers.
