On Wednesday, Yami Gautam was presented with the Indian Chamber of Commerce women’s achievement award in recognition to her contribution for Indian cinema. When receiving the award Yami said her journey has just begun, she has a long way to go.
“This feels a little different. To be felicitated here by Indian Chamber of Commerce is a very big deal. There is a lot more to do, I have just begun my journey. Such an honor like this gives a lot of encouragement, to work harder and achieve more.” said Yami during media interaction.
The actress, who played a very challenging role of a blind girl in Kaabil, is very proud to receive this award. “I had the privilege to understand how challenging it is to make it in our respective fields. And this award does give me a sense of pride to be making it on my own as I do not have a God father here and I am not from Mumbai.”
Starting her career as a model Yami has come a long way and the actress feels her mother’s support gave her the strength to achieve all this.“I would like to thank the wonder women in my life and that’s my mother. I am really proud to be from where I am and that is because of my mother. In true sense she taught me the power of belief and to believe in myself.
She had confidence in me and said ‘even if you fall you will have my back’. She told me to just go out there and be fearless. To make the sky my limit but keep my feet on the ground. Her words are what keep me going and are very important. Thank you to all the mothers out there.”
When asked if she considers this award different than a Film award Yami said, “I don’t want to classify anything; it’s not just about this award or the memento. This is a different platform, it’s not a film award, and I haven’t received it for any film. I am glad to be able to share this platform with Naina Kidwai. She is such a big personality and I got to learn a lot from her.”
Yami Gautum was last seen in Sarkar 3 as Annu Karkare with Amit Sadh.
