When I think about the trials and tribulations that our sweet little chi chi has endured in the past couple of years, I can’t help but feel sorry for him. After his short, but disastrous debacle in politics, everything that the poor guy had was lost. He lost most of his fans because of his, well, political boo boos. The movie industry, which was his home for around 20 odd years turned its back on him and treated him like a pariah. At this time, the man with a golden heart-Salman Khan came along with a helping hand. And this brings us to what we really are here for- the review for their latest film Partner.

Katrina Kaif in Partner
The movie promos are quite appealing and I found myself looking forward to watching them. Everyone knows that they both excel in comedy and the king of the genre-David Dhawan was the only missing link for a great laugh riot. The movie is about an ordinary man-Bhaskar (Govinda) who is completely hopeless in life. Not that he does not have a good job, but besides that, nothing much else. He does not look extra ordinary, is a mess when it comes to even conversing with women and a hopeless introvert. Now this average guy falls for his boss- a knock out beauty. You see, his boss is played by Katrina Kaif who is a scintillating heiress and completely out of Bhaskar’s league. A very desperate Bhaskar turns to a love guru (Salman Khan), who is very famous for getting men their ideal women. He actually teaches them to get the woman to like them. He takes on Bhaskar as a challenge and slowly, he gets the boss to notice him. Meanwhile, our love guru can’t be without a love interest, so this comes in the form of Lara Dutta- a journalist with a kid.
Salman Khan and Govinda in Partner
Now how many of you find this story familiar? Ah, of course it is a frame to frame copy of the Hollywood hit Hitch, which stars Will Smith! This is definitely a downer because I was quite astounded when I saw the Hindi version of Hitch right before my eyes. Since I kind of knew the story, it was not that much of a thrill, but I think this gave me a chance to observe the performances. And as critical as I can get, there is no denying the fact that Salman and Govinda have displayed an amazing partnership in this film. Their performances are natural and funny and they seem to be the characters themselves. The casting could not have been better for the two male leads, so on that front, kudos to the makers. The female talent was more or less only for eye candy. As the heiress, Katrina did not have much to do and did what she is best at-smiling pretty. Lara was ok, but not comparable to Eva.

So my review for the movie is that it is definitely worth a watch and though it is a copy, you will end up laughing with the two stars of the film as they are really a pair extraordinaire.

I watched Partner on 22nd July 07. I found it a total waste of time.
I went to watch the movie as I am a fan of Govinda and David Dhawan, but alas as time is passing by, both are loosing the sense what humour/comedy actually means.
Today comedy means – adult comedy. You have to have some arbit adult dialogues and some girls around to make a comic scene!
The second point is there is no story at all to carry the movie ahead.
I wonder what was the significance of the rocket scene which continued for around 10 minutes and really didn’t fit into the movie and forget laughs on salman’s attempts to dodge the rocket. You can find many such sequences which were just put in to add to the minutes.
Only rajpal yadav was natural and truly comic as Chota Don.
I totally agree vith Basu. When I saw movie ialso found it just a waste of time but v still love with salmaan and says “LAGAY RAHU SALMAAN BHAI”
