On Monday, Sridevi and Mom’s director Ravi Udyawar interacted with audience to know the reaction of their recently released film Mom in Mumbai. While speaking with media, Sridevi stated that people tell her that she still have the innocence of child while performing on screen.
Recently, Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar expressed displeasure on twitter with the format of TV reality shows that have children competing fiercely to prove their talent; he feels that these shows are ruining children’s perspective on life.
On the other hand, Sridevi who made her debut in films at the age of 13 in Julie and who has worked in the industry for more than 50 years disagrees with Shoojit, she said, “I am working since my childhood and many people tell me that I still have that innocence (of a child) in me so I will not agree with him.”
“I feel it’s all about bringing up. It depends upon how you raise your child and what kind of values you give them so whether they (kids) are working or not, they can ruin their life in both cases”.
Sridevi worked with Pakistani actress Sajal Ali Firdous in Mom as mother-daughter pairing. Recently, audience saw Sridevi’s emotional side when she posted video on social media talking about working with Sajal in Mom, at the event, when asked her experience working with Sajal , Sridevi said, “I am like mom to her and she is like daughter to me. It was beautiful experience. I am so blessed to work with such talented people in this movie. She (Sajal) is unbelievable in the movie. Whoever has seen the movie really appreciated her performance and I really miss her for not being here with me”.
Earlier, Sridevi visited kid’s reality show Lil champ to promote her film Mom, speaking about the experience visiting the show, she said, “It was beautiful experience. The kids are so talented with so much confidence in them. It’s just amazing. I salute to all the mothers of that kids because they have been away from their family and home to be their kids so I feel only mother can do that kind of sacrifice”.
Mom is receiving positive reception from audience and critics, when asked her about reaction from people, she said, “I would like to thank audience for the love and support which they always given me. Today, after seeing phenomenal response to film, I felt really happy and till now, our film is getting good result so I am sure this will continue in same manner”.
She added, “Everybody, especially mothers are reacting very positively because the film has good message to give so I am glad that everybody is taking this film as a positive film”.
The movie, which also features Akshaye Khanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is an Indian thriller which revolves around the seemingly perfect life of protagonist Devki (Sri Devi) and the extents she goes to protect her family.
Mom which released last week is Sridevi’s 300th film, which in itself makes it special for the actor, her family and her followers.
