Sanjay Dutt plays the gangster in the film and filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia expresses that it is the most difficult role in the franchise.
Talking about Sanjay Dutt in the film, Tigmanshu said, “Presence of Sanjay Dutt in the franchise has enhanced it, there is no denying it. See in Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, I got my Saheb and Biwi, they are compulsory, and gangster keeps changing. First, it was Randeep Hooda, than Irrfan Khan and now Sanjay Dutt”
“And let me tell you the most difficult role in the franchise is that of the gangster. Because the motivation and conflicts of Saheb and Biwi are just the same and the gangster in my film is not a ruthless or bad person. This character is carrying a lot of pain, he is in love, and that love takes him to a different level and makes him do certain things, so he is not a black gangster. This gangster makes you cry”
In eight years span, Tigmanshu Dhulia has directed three installment of Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster and when asked about his the planning and motivation that went on making the franchise, he said, “It is all coincidental; there was not any planning behind it. Where the first part ended, when Jimmy’s character introduces his driver to Mahi Gill in the end, it meant there is new affair is coming up, I mean it was in the script. So we made it like that”
“And the film became a hit and we started thinking, the story is not complete here, there is some space for a new story, to make it as a franchise, hence it became a franchise. So there is no planning behind it, I think it is destiny, grace of god and hard work of entire team that we have made the third film”
The movie stars Sanjay Dutt, Jimmy Shergill, Mahi Gill, Chitrangada Singh, Soha Ali Khan, Kabir Bedi and Nafisa Ali in pivotal roles.
The film releases on 27th July 2018.
