After Sonu Nigam, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi attracts a lot of heat for terming Azaan lowlife and dumb on social media.
Not so long ago, Sonu Nigam sparked controversy over the ‘azaan’ issue, which was followed by national debate and singer ending up with bald head. Now Suchitra Krishnamoorthi found herself in a similar situation as she expressed irritation over the Muslim prayer call.
Actress and Singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi expressed her irritation on Azaan by tweeting, “Came home at 4.45 a.m. to most aggressive/ear shattering call of ‘azaan’. Nothing more lowlife and dumb than such extreme imposed religiosity,”
Bollywood director Shekar Kapur’s former wife’s tweet evoked angry reactions, especially from within the film fraternity and politicians but the actress refused to back down and posted some more tweets.
“Loudspeakers are not allowed between 10 pm to 6 am. Yet this law is repeatedly broken for azaan. Poilce & everyone else turns a blind eye” wrote Suchitra, pointing out that it is against law.
And later she posted one more post, slamming trolls on social media, she wrote, “Extreme religiousity dumbs and dwarfs the mind & restricts free thought. Applicable to all religions”
Krishnamoorthi is noted for her role opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the 1994 release “Kabhi Haan, Kabhi Naa”.
