Actress Sayani Gupta attended special screening of her upcoming film ‘The Hungry’ at MAMI Film Festival on Saturday in Mumbai. While interacting with media, Sayani stated that her upcoming film ‘The Hungry’ is very hard hinting and dark film.

Talking about ‘The Hungry’, Sayani said, “Its adaptation of William Shakespeare’s ‘Titus Andronicus’. I think, we truly have managed to adapt it and come away from Shakespeare although have that world and in that dramatic space. It’s very hard hitting and dark film. We all are excited because this is the first time, Indian audience is going to watch it today. It premiered at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), there it received great response and in London also, it had immensely positive response but it’s always special and you always feel nervous because Indian needs to like it, so we all hoping it happens”

Talking about working experience with Naseeruddin Shah and Tisca Chopra in the film, Sayani said, “They both are amazing people and amazing actor. I knew Naseer sir before, as he was my teacher in film school. It’s almost like dream come true to work with him. He plays my father in the film so it’s very beautiful and warm relationship”

“Tisca is incredible. She is solid as a person. Bornila managed to cast amazing cast and even the crew. Each one involved in the film is very special and talented. I am very fortunate to be part of this film and it was humbling at the same time.”

In bollywood, there is constant debate of writers not getting their due credit so in return, it weakens content of the film, talking about it, Sayani said, “Off course, I always say loudly and clearly that we make the most number of films but we make very bad films as well. I feel writing needs to accelerate and become really good and that will only happen when writers are paid well and respected. It has started happening but very slowly though”

It is being directed by Bornila Chatterjee , produced by Microwave International Ltd and Cinestaan Film Company.
