When you don’t understand the language then I feel working in such film is cheating with own says Kajol at the trailer launch of her Tamil film VIP 2

On Sunday, makers of Tamil film Velaiilla Pattadhari (VIP) 2 launched trailer and music of their film in Mumbai. Kajol, Dhanush, Amala Paul, Soundarya Rajnikanth, Rajnikanth’s wife Latha Rajnikanth, Taapsee Pannu, Huma Qureshi, Anand L Rai, R. Balki, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra attended the event. While speaking at the event Kajol stated that when someone don’t understand the language then working in such films is cheating with own.

Kajol’s debuted in Tamil films in 1997 with Minsara Kanavu, in which she shared screen space with Arvind Swamy and Prabhu Deva, when reporter asked Kajol that is she not getting any scripts in Hindi film that is reason she shifted to do regional cinema, Kajol said, “I feel, there always be very few good scripts and for me most important aspect of films has been script so I feel language shouldn’t be barrier when you work in a good film. Having said that, I used to get lot of offers when I used to work in Hindi film but I used to get nervous when it comes to dialogue in another language which I don’t understand. In my earlier Tamil film, I really worked hard on that part so I didn’t want work hard on that again. I haven’t done any film in any other language apart from Hindi and Tamil because I feel when you work in another language that time you more concentrate on language and unconsciously or consciously your expression and acting start to get affect so somewhere I feel like cheating with myself and that was the reason I stayed away from doing film in another language.

She added, “If in future, if I decide to work in other language then I have to trust people with whom I working in because it fully depends upon how supportive the team is to me.”

Talking about working in VIP 2, she said, “VIP 2 has been most professional experiences. It did not feel like work despite the fact that we had few hitches in the beginning. Before starting of the film, I was very nervous before I accepted the film because it is difficult to speak and act in another language which I don’t understand. I used to feel like doing homework because they used to give me 3 pages of homework (scenes and dialogue) every night so every night I used to spend two hours on my homework and I used to feel like going to boarding school all over again. Earlier, Dhanush and Soundarya falsely convinced me that I would not have any Tamil dialogue but one the first day of shoot they proved me wrong but somehow I managed. They both have immensely supportive in this journey and because of them I broke lot of barriers in my head, fear and phobia about working in another language film.”

When asked about directing a film in future, Kajol said, “I am very happy with acting and I don’t have any intension to make ulcers in my stomach”
VIP 2 is a sequel to Velraj-directed 2014 film Velaiilla Pattadhari. VIP originals Vivek, Samuthirakani and Saranya Ponvannan also reprise their roles in the second part.
