Television Channels Plan To Sparkle On Diwali This Year

Published on

November 1, 2010 : Festive time is upon us once again! And the impending air of Diwali cannot be missed any longer. With millions of Indians bustling about trying to complete their Diwali shopping replete with fire crackers and sweetmeats, it is time now to burst into a spontaneous round of celebrations. However, not all of us are lucky enough to party away the night, Diwali or no Diwali! Nor can we summarily dismiss the presence of the TV characters, the characters
who make us laugh and cry and help us pass our time in an enjoyable manner, night after night. Be it Archana, the oh-so chweet girl next door or the ever sacrificing Ichcha, the telestars need to be present too as we ask Goddess Laxmi to shower her bountiful blessings on us. Trust the network channels to keep the need of the hour in mind! All the biggies of the television industry now have something or the other lined up for the special occasion this time. Let us see the treat that we have in store, this glorious Diwali…

Film promotions- Action Replayy, the bigwig from Bollywood makes its foray into the theaters on Diwali. The makers of this Aishwarya-Akshay Kumar starrer have joined forces with Zee TV in order to promote their film all the way. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will even go out of her way to try her hand at creating mouth watering dishes with the aid of her hero, Akki on Master chef this weekend. As if cooking up a storm wasn’t enough, the celebrity duo also had made plans of landing up on the hot seat of KBC-4 to be grilled by the erudite Big B himself. However, the doting Paa –in-law was in for a shock when Ash simply refused to turn up. She,  apparently had problems with the moolah going to ex-beau Salman Khan’s charity. Her representatives have rubbished the rumor though stating channel directives instead.

Golmaal 3 the other movie to hit the theatres around the same time has been making the obligatory rounds meanwhile. The director Rohit Shetty along with the stars Ajay Devgn, Tusshar Kapoor and Arshad Wasi  had a whale of time answering questions on the sets of the popular KBC-4 too. The heroine Kareena Kapoor was conspicuous by her absence preferring to do a no-show instead.

Special Shows- Zee’s own stable of stars are certain to usher in Diwali and popular artistes like Ankita Lokhande, Binny Sharma, Jay Bhanushali along with Sushant Singh Rajput, the heart throb of the masses will be seen entertaining the audience this Diwali week with their repertoire of ‘jhatkas’ and ‘matkas’.

‘Dilwalon Ki Diwali’, a Colors special will showcase the talent of its regular artists on November 7 which is scheduled to take place throughout the better part of the day. The cast and crew of Golmaal 3 will join in the celebrations and the channel bosses undoubtedly hope to see Goddess Laxmi enter their households along with the requisite TRPs via the spectacular celebrations destined to take place on the d-day.

TV Soaps- The fiction front cannot be too far behind amidst all this glitter and razzle-dazzle. With special episodes of ‘Balika Vadhu’ showing Anandi and Jagya playing with fireworks and the cast of ‘Uttaran’ holding their own celebrations, ‘Colors’ remains completely focused on the event. Star Plus does not lag too far behind either and entire episodes of ‘Sasural Genda Phool’ and ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ have been shot, keeping the festival of light in mind. ‘Ram Milaayi Jodi’ on Zee is going to see high drama with Mona’s pallu catching fire which brings Anukalp to the rescue, thus initiating yet another ‘ever after’ love saga.  The crossover of ‘Baat Hamari Pakki Hai’, ‘Saas Bina Sasural’ and ‘Tera Mujhse Hai Pehle Ka Nata Koi’ is likely to feature a host of actors from all three shows with the easy camaraderie and bonhomie between the actors being evident throughout the sparkling Diwali extravaganza on the channel.

Reality Shows- Master Chef Akshay is getting ready to challenge his participants with a Diwali sweet making round while ‘Bigg Boss’ Sallu Miya is looking forward to spend an entire day with the high drama-queens and conniving house mates of the show. KBC -4, on the other hand, has geared itself up for the week and ‘Computerji’ is going to have a gala time entertaining sporting celebrities and evil ‘Bahus’ of the small screen apart from hosting the promotional events. Imagine’s dancing judge Saroj Khan is going all out to welcome the dancing pairs of the tellyworld on her show ‘Nachle Ve’ while a supposedly staid Rakhi Sawant is keen on dispensing justice all through the ‘diya’ lit channel on her very own show, ‘Rakhi Ka Insaaf’.
