After the extraordinary success of the Coterie show in New York, Gayatri Khanna the multitalented designer will unveil her latest collection at the Lakme Fashion week this season. Inspired by the underwater world amidst the beautiful locales of Lakshwadeep this collection aptly titled as “The Coral Reef – Save Our Oceans!”. It reminds us how beautiful our oceans are and that we must try and help save the from harm and pollution!
The Coral Reef collection will exhibit more of a contemporary look- with free flowing siihouettes and jackets, ruffled tops and paneled skirts in sumptuous fabrics of cotton sateen, satin faced chiffons, silk taffeta and silk georgettes this collection suits the palate of the Indian fashionista’s
The Coral Reef collection will showcase the palette of the ocean and corals – with colors running from various shades of blues to ombres of green and bright yellows. Splashes of crystals, colorful beads and quirky bugle work, combined with ocean fabrication, patch work and colour blocking techniques also have been implemented making the final product deceptively simple, yet bold and chic.
Speaking of the collection designer Gayatri Khanna said “[ was scuba diving with my friends underwater at Lakshwadeep, the marine world inspired me so much that once back from the vacation [ had to head to my design board and capture all the minute details [ could recall from my trip. The Prints used are inspired by various fish like the butterfly fish, sweet lips and the lion fish which have been specifically developed to make the collection look more spor(y chic and routhful” ‘,,’
This collection will be unveiled at the Lakme Fashion Week on 20th October 2008 at Mumbai.
About the designer Gayatri Khanna introduced Milaaya Embroideries in May 2000 to the fashion world in the US and Europe. It attracted an elite clientele of design houses like Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Versace etc.
