Ace designer Suneet Varma has sought inspiration in the joyful and jubilant music of the 1970s through his Fall Couture 2016 collection during a fashion show that will take place here on Saturday night.
The event will happen in association with DLF Emporio and Diacolor.
“The melodies and the mood from the 1970s have always been my happy place. The styling, silhouettes and colours of the collection are inspired from the times and I have worked on the collection giving it a contemporary twist,” the designer told IANS during an interaction here.
This season, the designer has worked with a new colour palette and fabrics ranging from deep maroons and purples in two toned silks, ombre dyed organza in shades of yellow, gold and copper diaphanous lace lined with a vibrant orange and fuchsia pink, reminiscent of the times.
One will see white on white dori and zari embroidered collection layered with long tunics with asymmetrical hemlines and worn with draped dhoti trousers and flared sharara pants; the sheer saris worn over printed and embroidered petticoats; and short capes with narrow pencil pants.
Floral abstract artworks on gathered skirts with off-shoulder blouses, long flared gowns and brown and maroon shaded chiffon saris with ribbon embroidery are also a part of the line.
The bridal collection plays with rich textures of printed and embroidered velvets. Floor-length anarkalis with zardozi and thread embroidery with narrow stoles, short jackets with trousers and long A-line kurtas with pencil trousers are some of the high points of the range and the designer is excited to show it to his patrons.
