As the Cannes film Festival kicked off, it saw many Bollywood films being screened. Not only the some top of the line films but some lesser known films were also showcased. Indian cinema has now gone global and is seeing a heyday in the market. Some of the films screened include Santosh Sivan’s Tahan, which stars Rahul Bose and Rahul Khanna and Jag Mundhra’s Shoot On Sight, starring Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri.
It appears as if the whole film industry is present at the Cannes. Ther are some big players who have jumped to the forefront, like UTV, Indian Films-Studio 18, Eros and Reliance ADAG. Everyone is busy promoting their own movies. Over all, while Eros’ is promoting, Om Shanti Om, Sarkar Raj, U, Me aur Hum, Sunday and Bhoothnath, UTV is ready with its Taare Zameen Par, Jodha Akbar and race, Indian Films-Studio 18 s seen promoting Jab We Met, Welcome, Kidnap, Singh Is Kinng and Golmaal Returns, Shemaroo has the animation Ghatothkach to promote. Dev Anand’s Guide will also be screened at the Classic section of the festival.
