I did Anand L Rai film just to know the process of how films based on dwarf are being made says Tigmanshu Dhulia

On Thursday, makers of Raagdesh launched trailer of their film in Mumbai. Filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia, Mohit Marwah and Producer Gurdeep Singh Sappal , CEO of Rajya Sabh TV were present at the event. Tigmanshu Dhulia is playing role of Shah Rukh Khan’s father in Anand L Rai’s upcoming film. While speaking to the media, Tigmanshu revealed that he did that film just to know process of how films based on dwarf are being made.

Talking about working with Shah Rukh Khan in Anand L Rai film, Tigmanshu said, “It was nice experience. I do very few films as an actor but when a filmmaker friend feels that I can do justice to certain role and when I need some money then only I do a film. It’s a very technical film in which Shah Rukh playing a character of dwarf so I wanted to see that how it is made because when Kamal Hassan (Appu Raja) did it that time he did that with folded legs and VFX facility also wasn’t available so to know that process I did this film. It’s a very time consuming film where you have to give the best effort because you have to shoot each shot from 3to 4 different approach and in each day they only used to complete only one scene so it’s a hard film to make but they are giving their best effort to that”

When asked about is Raagdesh is anti-congress since congress is not in power in centre films like 31 st October which is based on 1984 Sikh riots and Indu Sarkar which based on emergency period in India around 1975 to 1977 are releasing in a line, to that, Tigmanshu replied, “I will not comment on other films. I am sorry that in this film you will not get any controversy because when Britishers gave life sentence to 3 INA soldiers each of them was Hindu, Sikh and Muslim that time Congress party, Muslim league, Hindu Mahasabha and Akali Dal came together like never before in the history of India to protest against their life sentence. So there is nothing like anti-congress in this film. It’s a very positive film. This film is film is about INA, court trials and Subhash Chandra Bose because many people doesn’t know what exactly Subhash Chandra Bose actually did for this country and through this film we are trying to show whether INA (Indian National Army) was traitor or heroes of our country.”

Tigmanshu also spoke about challenges he faced while creating a film which is based on real events, he said, “When you are writing a fictional story that time writer can use his imagination to write a story but when you have real story then you have to mould it into proper film script then it is challenging especially when you don’t have the permission to tamper with past facts. Each scene of this film is documented with some or the other books so I haven’t had any opportunity to take cinematic liberty in this film.”

This is the first time Rajyasabha TV is producing a commercial film, when asked about that Tigmanshu said, “We have shot this film in Red fort and this is the first time, we shot this film in Rashtrapati bhavan where Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi film also didn’t got permission to shoot so it was all possible because we had Rajya Sabha’s backing”

Tigmanshu Added, “I definitely want PM Narendra Modi to see this film and we are trying to organize special screen screening to President Pranab Mukherjee and India’s next President in a common ceremony”

Tigmanshu also commented on Karni Sena’s attack on Sanjay Leela Bhansali over the Padmavati film storyline, He said, “It’s a completely wrong action on the part of Karni Sena. They are going through mob mentality and you cannot have debate with mob”

Raagdesh stars Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh and Mohit marwah in lead roles. It is releasing on 28 July, 2017
