Actress and Model Sophie Choudry who is known for remixing old songs has said that iconic songs should not be touched.
Sophie Choudry interacted with media at the launch of luxury jewellery store Azotiique by designer Varun Raheja on Thursday in Mumbai.
Jacqueline Fernandez’s new version of ‘Ek Do teen’ song from ‘Baaghi 2’ received criticism from all quarters on social media. Tezaab director N Chandra also slammed Jacqueline Fernandez’s version of Madhuri Dixit’s iconic song Ek Do Teen by terming it ‘crass’. The Tezaab director also said that remixing old iconic songs is “creative vandalism” and that there should be “strict laws” against it., reacting to the current controversy, Sophie said, “It’s not about Madhuri Dixit and Jacqueline Fernandez song. Jacqueline has worked very hard for the song and it shows onscreen as well. I have been queen of remixes who has created songs like ‘Jaadugar Saiyaan’ and ‘Ek Pardesi’ but all those songs were in pop space and it was in a time when it was widely accepted by the audience and it was not in a movie. I just believe remaking iconic Hindi films songs for Hindi films creates lot of pressure on the artists and its unnecessary. I just think iconic songs should not be touched. I still like what makers of Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya did with ‘Tamma Tamma’ song as it was cool, different and they were not trying to copy that song. I think what Vishal-Shekhar did with ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ is amazing example. I think Bollywood is known for its songs and music. One of the songs of the year is ‘Dil Diyaan Galla’ which is completely original song so why do we need to remake songs?”
Talking about of luxury jewellery store Azotiique by designer Varun Raheja, Sophie said, “I think the jewellery range over here is not only fashionable and cool but the price points are really good so I think it makes a difference so I am happy to be here. I have already purchased few pieces of jewellery from here. It is very near from my home so it is convenient for me as well”
When asked Spohie which kind of jewellery she prefers to wear, she said, “I don’t like to wear heavy jewellery. I like to wear light jewellery. I am usually an earrings girl or a necklace girl so I don’t believe in looking like Christmas tree and I think it’s summer so it’s too hot to wear too much of jewellery. I think a cool earring and statement necklace is more than enough”
Sophie Choudry last seen in ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara!’ which released in 2014.
