Filmmaker Rohit Shetty says the film will share Balasaheb’s vision and struggle with the entire country.
Rohit interacted with media after attending the special screening for the forthcoming film, ‘Thackeray’ on Wednesday.
Talking about the film Rohit said, “Born and brought up in Mumbai we know about Balasaheb Thackeray and I know the family personally, watching the whole struggle and his journey was great. I think people are aware of him but don’t really know about his vision and the struggle through which the party was formed so that everyone in the country will find out now.”
He added, as someone who looked up to Balasaheb as a leader, he thinks the film should be seen for his leadership
“They have presented the film very well and it is a film to be seen for leadership. I always looked up to him as a leader, and for his vision and struggle, he went through for his people. That’s what they are trying to show in the film.”
The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the titular role. When asked about his performance, Shetty said, “Nawaz is an outstanding actor and everyone after watching his film says the same thing. And his every performance is worth it .There are a few scenes in the film where you think it is actually Balasaheb Thackeray on screen, he has done a very responsible job for an actor and he has done it fabulously.”
The film also stars, Amrita Rao as Meena Tai Thackeray.
Directed by Abhijit Panse and produced by Viacom Motion pictures the film will release on 25th Jan 2019.
