Sanjay Dutt’s character in upcoming drama Bhoomi is constantly compared with Pitaah, but the actor claims that comparison of two movies is not possible because of different treatment.
Mahesh Manjrekar directorial Pitaah was released in 2002, starring Sanjay Dutt in lead, it is a story about a father trying to protect and defend his family, which is similar to the plot of upcoming Bhoomi, but actor denies such similarities.
“Every movie is compared to every movie, ever since the movie industry started. It is same mother, father, actor and villain, even the song and everything else, but how the film is treated, its treatment, its scenes, the light portion, which makes the movie different. So there is no way to compare two movies” said Sanjay Dutt.
Leading superstars in Bollywood usually avoid playing the role of a father in commercial drama, as there is fear of being type-casted, but Sanjay Dutt has an interesting take on it.
“I am playing a character of the father, named Arun Sachdeva in Bhoomi. I’ve played Hrithik Roshan’s father in Mission Kashmir, which was about 12 years ago, so I am playing a character”
“Even my mother, Nargis Dutt, played a character of the mother in Mother India, when she was just 26. So do you really think after that she only did mothers role and no leading roles? So it is just a character” added Sanjay Dutt, when asked about being typecast.
Sanjay Dutt’s fans have been eagerly waiting for the new installment in Munna Bhai franchise and actors confirms that the movie is indeed on the table and will start next year.
“Munna Bhai is still in scripting phase. Once Rajkumar Hirani finishes the shooting of Biopic, he will join the scripting. And if everything goes accordingly, with best wishes and god willing, the movie will go on floors next year” said Sanjay Dutt.
Munna Bhai director Rajkumar Hirani is currently wrapping the biopic based on Sanjay Dutt, the movie stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead.
Bhoomi releases on 22nd September.
