Filmaker Vishal Bhardwaj attended ‘Sakhi Ri’ song launch of his close friend Kay Kay Menon‘s upcoming film ‘Vodka Diaries‘ along with his wife Rekha Bhardwaj on Tuesday in Mumbai. During press interaction.
Bhardwaj said that Kay Kay Menon is one of the finest and underrated actor of our country.
Vishal Bhrdwaj has worked with Kay Kay Menon in ‘Haider’ so praising Kay Kay Menon as an actor in ‘Vodka Diaries’, Bhardwaj said, “I know Kay Kay from many years. If Kay Kay’s film ‘Paanch’ would have been released then Kay Kay’s career would have been on another level and his acting abilities would have been appreciated even more. It was first film of Anrurag (Kashyap) and I feel I gave different kind of music to that film. I have seen Kay Kay’s work over the years and I feel Kay Kay is one of the finest and underrated actor of our country but to project his potential as an actor he has got less opportunities. I have seen ‘Vodka Diaries’. He has performed brilliantly in ‘Vodka Diaries’ and after long time, I have seen organic and beautiful performance.”
As Bhardwaj said that Kay Kay Menon is one of the underrated actor of Hindi cinema so whether he is palnnig to work with Kay Kay Menon in full-fledged film as Bhardwaj’s film’s gives actors certain kind of credibility, to that, Bhardwaj said, “Earlier, I have worked with Kay Kay in ‘Haider’ and in future also I would love to work with Kay Kay as he is my favorite actor but I have to wait to offer him character which will suit him as an actor”
Talking about song ‘Sakhi Ri’ from ‘Vodka Diaries’ which is sung by Rekha Bhardwaj, Vishal said, “I feel really nice when Rekha sings for another music composer apart from me and in this song I got listen another nuance in her voice”
Praising director Kushal Srivastava of ‘Vodka Diaries’, Bhardwaj said, “ Film’s director has completed shoot of this film in 20 days which is great, commendable job to shoot difficult film like this in 20 days. This film’s screenplay is very similar like Hollywood thriller films. This film doesn’t look like that its being directed by first-time director. It looks like he is 3-4 film old because the kind of film he has made and the kind of performances he managed to get from his actors is really amazing”
Vishal Bhardwaj is set to direct Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan in a film which is earlier supposed to direct by his assistant director Honey Trehan, talking about working with Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan, Bhardwaj said, “I wrote script of that film 1-2 years ago but now, I am directing it so I am looking forward to Deepika because I like her body of work. She is beautiful actress and I feel camera loves her. With Irrfan, after long time , I am doing a full-fledged with him as a main protagonist as After ‘Maqbool’, I have worked with him in ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’ and ‘Haider’ in which, he had small role so I am really excited that I am getting an opportunity to work with Irrfan in full-fledged film.”
Reacting to release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavat’, Bhardwaj said, “I am really happy that ‘Padmvat’ is releasing and it is getting proper release but I have read that the film is not releasing in Rajasthan so I feeling little sad for it as I feel that film should have been released in entire country when censor board has given green signal to it”
The Supreme Court has modified its earlier order on the playing of National Anthem in cinema halls and has made it non-mandatory. It took cognizance of the Centre’s submission that had asked the court to modify the order, reacting to Supreme Court judgment, Bhardwaj said, ‘I feel should not argue about Supreme Court judgment because it’s our apex court and they have given right verdict that it should not be mandatory”
Before working in Vishal Bhardwaj film, Irrfan and Deepika have previously worked together in ‘Piku’ and their project is scheduled to go on floors in February end and it will be produced by KriArj Entertainment.
