To commemorate the 3rd `D’ anniversary of Shri Sunil Dutt saab, Mumbai Congress spokesperson Krishna Hegde, in association with Apple Tree had organized a Summer camp for under privileged children from 19th to 25th May. Over 25 under privileged children learnt Dancing, Painting, Shoe painting, Paper Bag making. They also enjoyed other games like Tug off war. A Treasure hunt was also organized for the children..The children were also taken for a trek to Karjat.
The uniqueness of this camp was that 50 children from well to do families are bearing the costs of under privileged children attending the camp. That is not all, these children also learnt the above vocations along with the less privileged children. Shri Sunil Dutt saab’s daughters Namrata and Priya Dutt, Priya’s husband Owen Roncon and Actor Raveena Tandon paid homage to Shri Sunil Dutt saab at a solemn ceremony at St Catherines Home this afternnoon.
“I follow the footsteps of my father, he guides me in the work in do. The padhyatra in which I accompanied him to Punjab and spent 78 days days with him changed my life for ever. I draw inspiration from him and we miss him in our lives everyday.” said Priya Dutt.
“Dutt saab is a modern day Mahatma, Like Gandhi ji , he preached Ahimsa in this modern age. He was a great man and a great human bieng.” said Raveena Tandon. The children dedicated the day to Shri Sunil Dutt saab. They performed street plays with a message and even sang a song dedicated to the memory of Dutt saab.
The children from the Summer camp met the children from the St Catherines orphanage in Bandra and played with them. In turn, the Children from St Catherines Home also entertained the other children with performances on Bollywood songs.
Over 200 children were treated to lunch.
“Children are the future of our country. Children of well to do families and lesser privileged ones all came on one platform cutting across cutting across caste and religion and had a lot of fun. This itself is the best message we all can learn from the children” said Krishna Hegde, who had also worked closely with Shri Sunil Dutt saab.
