Three singing legends – Anup Jalota, Talat Aziz and Chitra Singh came together and announced to the press today at The Westin Garden City, Mumbai about the upcoming Gazal night to be held in the memory of renowned Gazal artist Jagjit Singh to be celebrated on 8th February 2015, 5.45 pm onwards. The performers will be Anup Jalota, Talat Aziz, Runa Rizvi and Surinder Khan.

On the occasion of the press conference, Anup Jalota said in the memory of Jagjit Singh that he was a maestro and deserves a Bharat Ratna for the art of Gazal singing. He further said, “Jagjit Singh Ji is still alive in his music and his fans enjoy his music as much as they enjoyed it when he was alive. We wish to make him immortal by celebrating his birth anniversary as a legendary Gazal night.”

Talat Aziz remembered Jagjit Singh as a very friendly and encouraging person who had encouraged him to sing when he was in college and not very confident about singing. He said, “Jagjit Ji held the mike for me as I sang in a private function held at my residence. He invited me to Mumbai and I did some of the beginning works of my career with him. He described him as ‘Ajeeb’

unique in his way and approach as he was very informal, candid and friendly and could create a special bonding with everybody he met. He has throughout been a true friend and inspiration for me. With this Gazal night I wish to pay my tribute to him.”

Chitra Singh fondly remembered Jagjit Singh and said that Anup ji and Talat ji had already praised him for his contribution to the art of Gazal singing . She would pay her respects to her husband on the evening of 8th February. She thanked The Westin Mumbai Garden City for being a part of it.
