DZareeās Fashion Showcase at the Royal Bengal Room, City Centre, SaltLake saw all the wheels gearing towards north Kolkata. Designer Shweta Gupta was at the helms of the events, welcoming all the guests who came to witness the stylish affair at the city of joy.
The ensembles displayed for the Bengali fashionistas, were a varied range from very bold sleeveless tunics to conventional salwar suits. The vibrant colours used by the coveted designer made the silhouettes looked avant garde and just apt to match the Bengali sensibilities.
The designer who is seemingly getting a good response from the city of joy is happy at the turn of events. āI hail from Delhi, but Kolkata has its own charm where the city dwellers have a unique balance between conventionality and modernity. The increase in number of fashion weeks shows that Bengalis are gasping for fashion to set in the city. My attires are always appreciated by all the niche clientele of Kolkata for usage of quality fabrics, unique designs, modern cuts and most importantly pocket-friendly pricing,ā revealed the designer.
The guests appreciated the efforts of the designer who has taken it into her to promote the Indians designs through her latest collection. āI absolutely love the tops, tunics and the entire collection of Shweta; it is lovely to see such a showcase in Kolkata. Next time, I come to Kolkata; I have to make it a point to meet Shweta and grab some more stylish attires designed by her,ā added Tista Sengupta, a Mumbai-based Fashion Editor.
The designer, who has travelled all over, feels that the heart lies in your motherland. āThe heart is where your home is, hence I feel so strongly about India. However, one emulates the West, but when it comes to realising our own self, it is always phir bhi dil hai Hindustani. For me, my first priority is my country and then myself, hence for me promoting Indian designs is of prime importance than becoming the most popular designer,ā added the humble Shweta.
The showcase of designer Shweta Gupta is till Sunday September 30, 2012 from 11am to 9pm at Royal Bengal Room, City Centre Saltlake and it is open to all the fashion lovers of Kolkata. āFashion is no more restricted to the classes, and I make garments for people who love fashion irrespective of which background they come from. In fact, my garments are modestly priced to match the pockets of even the middle-class Bengalis, who would otherwise, wants to wear a designer label and look stylish especially in the much celebrated Durga Puja days,ā feels Shweta.
The first day saw an over-whelming response from all the fashion lovers, who ended up buying for all five days of the upcoming Durga Puja. No doubt, the city of joy is becoming another prominent landmark for both fashion and its deep rooted culture. Designer Shweta Guptaās aim is to make Kolkata a more fashionable place to live in for all the Bengalis and the city dwellers.
