Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla presented “The Golden Peacock”, an evening of couture for the Sahachari Foundation at The Ball Room, Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.

This exclusive presentation essayed Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla’s Journey in Fashion from Classical to Contemporary Couture. The evening was a scintillating tableau of Fashion with The Golden Peacock holding centre-stage. This bird is an emblem of Immortality, of the Eternal and unchanging. The ranges showcased were Peacock, Jewel, Art Deco And Avatar, Mirror, Solid, Dhaka and the Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla’s hallmark masterpieces Chikan.

The ramp sparkled with Jewels by Nirav Modi. Diageo was alcohol sponsor for the evening.

The large amount of proceeds collected from the fundraiser went towards the Sahachari foundation towards the cause of pediatric cancer. The funds raised will support St. Jude’s India Childcare Centre an institution dedicated to support children suffering from cancer. Gauri Pohoomul addressed the gathering and Jaya Bachchan introduced the boys and their work in the field of fashion as true ambassadors of India . She said how after meeting the boys over 25 years ago , she transformed from being a girl to a peacock ( which set the tone for the evening). Devieka Bhojwani aided the fundraising effort as Sandeep Khosla urged the crowd to dig deep in their pockets towards the cause.

The Sahachari Foundation with Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla and with Nirav Modi played gracious hosts to the bevy of distinguished guests. This glorious bird, a symbol of India provides the inspiration for the line, which features the motif in a multitude of embroideries and techniques from resham, vasli, gota tukdi, mirror and zardozi. The colour palette spans the spectrum from the understatement that is ivory, beige and skin tand traditional jewel hues to the zaniness of acid neon. The collection incorporates floor-length flared sherwanis, anarkalis, ghagras and sarees as silhouettes.

JEWEL

Cream and gold provide the canvas and beads the embellishment for this range

ART DECO AND AVATAR

The glamour of Gatsby meets the meticulous methodology of Mathematics for this geometric range. Beige, Black and Brights provide the base, gold and silver sequins become the art. Avatar pays homage to the Futuristic Feminine.

The silhouettes include long sheath dresses, sherwanis and sarees.

MIRROR

Luminosity is the mood as traditional mirrorwork goes modern in jewel tones.
