He floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee! Delhi boy Vikram Singh, who has acted in films like ‘Souten’, ‘Trump Card’, and ‘Bombay Godfather’, urges Indians to indulge in power sports such as boxing rather than being obsessed with cricket all the time. Coming one month before the Cricket World Cup, it looks as if Vikram Singh, who also loves cricket, has packed a powerful punch at the game that is religion in this country! And he has expressed his desire to promote boxing in India as it is a complete sport with constant attacking, defending, sparring and drills — all about speed, endurance and stamina. He also feels that the best reward.

in boxing is that it makes one a better person not a better fighter! Though Vikram Singh’s childhood aim was to become an actor, he developed phenomenal interest in boxing during his formative years. Vikram has trained in boxing at the Northside Boxing Club at Auckland, New Zealand for 8 months under coach Peter Derrick. Back in India, he keeps practising in his gym and has a punching bag at home. He punches for 30 minutes daily and also has a speed ball to monitor and maintain punching speed. Though still an amateur he plays it as a sport and not a fight. And he is proud of having stamina to carry on till 9 rounds of 3 minutes each.

Talking about his passion, Vikram says, “I’m very happy that Vijender Singh won the Olympics gold and our country should now start focussing on power sports rather than cricket. As India emerges as an emerging global economy with lots of affluence and power, it’s time for the flow of wealth into power sports. The Government should invest in boxers and power sports athletes in terms of infrastructure, boxing rings, stadiums, coaches, etc. It’s time to promote boxing like cricket so that our next generation will have champions all over.”

Vikram feels that he has trained himself to pack more power into lesser punches, as that is smart way to win. He also believes in a fair game with no tricks or shortcuts. He wants to inspire real hard fighters as our country is full with everything just need right direction. He wants to nurture his passion with love. Exercise, he says, is his best friend, when ever he gets time, he is busy with it. He also surfs the Internet a lot.

As an actor, Vikram is proud of the various films where he worked with talented actors. He believes that he is a versatile actor and can blend into any role or character that the filmmaker envisages for him. With his boxing skills, it’s natural that Vikram would love doing action scenes but he says that he can do much more. He admires Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan and would love to play the character of Veer Pratap Singh in Veer-Zaara.
