When the script of Sultan was still just a draft, Aditya Chopra, the producer, asked Ali Abbas Zafar, the writer-director, who he wanted to cast in this eponymous role.
Zafar immediately said Salman Khan. The reason he gave for this is because the journey in Sultan, was just like Khan’s journey in life. His personal and professional life has been full of ups and downs.
Once the actor agreed to the role, Zafar created the character in a way that he would be equal to Salman’s star power.
He wanted Salman Khan’s character to linger in the mind of the viewer.
