PILLAI GROUP OF INSTITUTIONS INTRODUCES ‘ALEGRIA 2014’ – THE FESTIVAL OF JOY. Mumbai, Friday 28th January 2014: Mahatma Education Society’s revered Pillai Group of Institutions introduced an intercollegiate festival ‘Alegria – The Festival of Joy’, which started on 28th January 2014 at the Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Campus, New Panvel.
Alegria – The Festival of Joy’ kicked off today, with a live performance by Farhan Akhtar with his band ‘Farhan Live’. Farhan rocked the ambiance with his best tracks from his movie Rock on, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and some acoustic tunes.
The banner revealing ceremony for Alegria 2014 took place at the Dr. K.M. Vasudevan Pillai’s campus on the 22nd of January. The ceremony was intended to be a massive public announcement about the upcoming fest, followed by the under mentioned events.
Alegria 2013 encouraged its participants to think beyond ordinary with its theme ‘Out of the box’. This year Algeria would provide an opportunity to the youth to celebrate and witness India in all her magnificence, beauty and diversity with the theme ‘Indie Ishtyle’. Around 5000 students are estimated to be a part of this mega festival this year. Around 200 colleges from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Raigad will be competing in the various events.

Alegria offers a wide variety of over 90 events, some major highlights of the event this year include – Mr. Fitness Physique, the life size snake and ladder, the treasure hunt which will happen throughout New Panvel, the football league which will have teams from various colleges, dance competitions that incorporates various dance forms, the fashion show, robotics, various interactive workshops and a lot more under various fields. The overall price money encompassing all events is calculated to go over 2 lakhs.
