On Monday, all roads lead to Tao Art Gallery for their unique art show titled ‘Small is Beautiful’, an amalgamation of unique pieces from various artists.
‘Small is Beautiful’ is a creation brought to you by Kalpana Shah, the owner of Tao Art Gallery. She looked resplendent in a white and black sari and a gorgeous necklace!
Speaking about the show, Kalpana says, “We Indians have always gifted small gold or silver items. However, this proves to be an alternative to that! These paintings are small and can be placed anywhere in the house, which is a benefit for any art enthusiast!’
The show was inspired by seeing a small yet very powerful work at the museum. Taking this theme forward, various artists have expressed their creative vision and created pieces that are no more than a maximum of 24”! It truly shows that something small can be appreciated as well. Noted guests from the art world who graced the event were Arzaan Khambatta, Ali Akbar Mehta with mother Fatima Mehta and grandmother Sakina Mehta (The late Tyeb Mehta’s grandson , daughter in law and wife), Lalita Lajmi (Kalpana Lajmi’s talented mother who’s works were also displayed), Ravi Mandlik, Samir and Madhumita Mondal, Naina Kanodia, Raell Padamsee, Pervez Damania, Poonam Soni, Bose Krishnamachari, Nandita and Sanjeeb Chaudhuri and many more!.
It was heart warming to see the mother and daughter in law duo of Sakina and Fatima Mehta, the wife and daughter in law of the Late Tyeb Mehta, come and support their grandson and his inherent talent. Arzaan Khambatta too came in with his young son and was seen showing him his works with great detail.
The ‘Small is Beautiful’ show is an opportunity for buyers to purchase paintings from these highly coveted artists, while not breaking their bank accounts! A heady mix of talented artists, both young and old, hence the conversation most certainly revolved around art! From the unique paintings to the wine floating around, this artsy night was surely one to remember!
