With buyers around the global circuit, the duo is known for their artistic styling and distinct designing statements that have made their creations hot sellers. With rich fabrics, gorgeous vibrant colours and tantalizing sensuous silhouettes, that sparkled with twinkling embroidery the presentation was a vision of beauty.

Called “The Mogul Opera” the collection had the traditional touches of the designers as opera style ball gowns and ethnic bridal wear was presented to an appreciative audience. Blending cleverly the 17th century Victorian era styles with the grandeur of the Mogul era; the creations comprised seductive gowns, lavishly ornate lehengas, remarkable corsets and sexy cholis. The collection was also a beautiful dedication to the country’s rich Jamevaar heritage which was recreated in the amazing embroidery.

“We are presenting garments for the modern woman who is a diva and who likes to create her own fashion statement. The collection Mogul Opera merges elements from the 17th century Victorian era to the glorious Mughal period, culminating in a beautiful symphony of gowns, lehengas, corsets and sensuous cholis, “says Anjalee Kapoor.

Creating a sensation on the ramp was the very stunning Bipasha Basu in maroon and gold paneled Jamevaar embroidered glittering corset blouse and lehenga with a seductive ornate neckline. The full luxurious petticoat under the voluminous creation gave that marked Victorian feel to the ensemble.

Bipasha Basu, “What I like about Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor‘s fashion sensibility is the luxury the garment lends , they are unafraid to experiment and be lavish with design . It is a different look for me to wear a bridal outfit with this exquisite Jamevaar a throwback from the Mogul Era. I love the Victorian touch of the can can anarkali lehenga and the jewelled neckline. It makes a style statement for any trousseau and signifies the dawn of the new age bride, it sits easy though it looks heavy and I had fun walking in it. I also launched Anjalee and Arjun’s Dubai store so despite being under the weather wanted to be here for them today. “

Guests who attended the show were Kunika Singh, Pooja Bedi, jadau jewellery designer Falguni Mehta , Lucky Morani , Zarine Khan, Bhagyashree, Rouble Nagi, Yasmin Morani, Roopa Vohra, Bina Aziz, Sheeba, Reshma Merchant, Bina Aziz, Mansi Roy and many more.

The gorgeous jadau Jewellery by Falguni Mehta was the perfect accessory for the luxurious exquisite bridal collection.

The collection came to life with bejeweled Lehengas replete with hand-picked Swarovski crystal embellishments and Zardozi against a burnt red velvet background draped over numerous layers of lush satin lining and Banarasi brocade borders, anarkalis with delicate French lace arms and specks of crystal highlighting the weave of the ephemeral patterns, Saris contemporarily slung in contrasting colors successfully reforming a dying art, ‘bandhgalas’ & ‘sherwani’s’ which are as stunning as they are original bedecked with tasteful replications of ‘sarpeches’; a mere sampling of the brilliance one would come to expect from their collections.

“Clothes to last a lifetime, exquisite craftsmanship, minute attention to detail…a garment to be treasured and coveted. Every woman must have a Jamevaar in her festive wardrobe to add a touch of global chic,” adds Arjun Kapoor.

Embellishments formed the key note of the collection as Swarovski crystals and zardozi merged perfectly for glittering lehengas on rich velvet. Luxurious satin was the basis of most garments, while Benares brocade was turned into shimmering borders. French lace appeared on the sleeves of voluminous anarkalis, which twinkled with crystals to create an enticing effect on the garments. Contrasts played a harmonious role for saris to create an interesting innovation.

Dividing the show into sections, the designers opened with a series of gorgeous gowns starting with the superb gold silk one-shoulder creation with tonal embroidery followed by a tulle over lacey vision for a will-power number. Embroidery glistened on bodices, while rigid layers or pleated collars added grace and dignity to the Victorian inspired creations. Colours were vibrant with gold, fuchsia, orange, red and silver making a dramatic impact.

The next look was pure ethnic for the floor hugging kurtas, heavily paneled as they swirled down the catwalk in layers of tulle. The western touches appeared in their ruffled hemlines and frilled cuffs while the tassels tantalized on draped and stitched dupattas. The Jamevaar paisley embroidery was the cynosure of all the creations whether it was the saris, lehengas, kurtis sherwanis, bundgalas or kurtas.

The heavy lehengas and kurtis section with diagonal draped net dupattas were visions of utter sophisticated beauty as layers of tulle, brocade; lace and silk with the most intricate embroidery made each entry a breathtaking vision. Sheer backs for kurtis, giant gleaming paisleys on the flouncing regal skirts, the rigid cutouts on shoulders and the layers recreated the grandeur of the Victorian era; while the Mogul ornate embellishments made an operatic symphony on the ramp.

Men’s wear had the regal bundhgalas and sherwanis which dazzled with recreations of “sarpeches”. The shaded rust tonal embroidered Jodhpuri jackets, the many sherwanis with the Moghul inspired crafts that covered the complete garments and the stately jackets were truly meant for a royal entry.

From the grandeur of yesteryear to the glamour of contemporary bridal wear, the designing duo combined the two segments to create exclusive statement pieces for the great day. When a bride wants to add that touch of ultimate opulence to her wedding attire, then Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor’s ‘The Mogul Opera’ collection is her perfect choice.
