Manish Malhotra Show at Aamby Valley India Bridal Week day 5

MANISH MALHOTRA – BOLLYWOOD’S FASHION BADSHAH PRESENTED HIS ULTIMATE BRIDAL COLLECTION FOR THE GRAND FINALE AT AAMBY VALLEY INDIA BRIDAL WEEK 2010

This is one Grand Finale at a fashion week that the fashionistas will not forget for a long time. Manish Malhotra Bollywood’s Fashion Badshah presented his final bridal week trilogy at the Grand Finale for the Aamby Valley India Bridal Week 2010 and created a sensation.

The Manish Malhotra Grand Finale show had all the glitz, glamour style and drama of a Bollywood hit blockbuster film. Having worked earlier in the season with ruby red and blue sapphire and then the new emerald green jewel tones for men’s and women’s wear; Manish moved to the final fashion accent with pink tourmaline, a colour that will gladden the hearts of most brides.

Presenting his classic sophisticated opulence, Manish worked with tradition and added a contemporary touch with the use of velvet motifs sprinkled with a generous helping of antique silver and dull gold work.

In the lush surroundings of the Tropical Lagoon in the circular atrium of the Sahara Star Hotel where the amazing 240 feet ramp divided into five levels was constructed to enable the audience to get a close look at the beautiful garments, the show opened with a lot of fanfare and drama.

Lit with fairy lights, the baskets of white carnations, roses and orchids lined the snaking five mirror finish acrylic ramps. Against a backdrop of large white floral arrangements, the stage was set for the collection of 60 garments (48 women’s and 12 men’s wear).

As the models glided down the ramps from all sides, Candice opened the show in a princess line multi-fushcia coloured panelled backless diaphanous gown. As she swirled and floated down the ramp Samita in an ivory net lehenga with canvas petticoat and a teensy choli, Shonal in a tulle and silk sari and Sonalika in an ivory crushed backless floor length creation strolled down the ramp.

Brocade kalidar kurtas were worn over flowing shararas and white panelled ghagras looked bewitching with red velvet embroidery. Adding a touch of green shaded net for a long kurta for Sanae, Manish moved to shades of the same for a panelled long angarkha. In the red section Alesia look stunning in a kalidar tulle tiered kurta; while Laxmi’s long embroidered silk creation over lame churidars was striking.

Tiered long skirts were a favourite with Manish as he created one for Shruti in net with a bronze choli and dupatta and for Hemangi a net sari with a brocade petticoat. Velvet on the bodices and hemlines was enticing while piping on the multi kalis added fluid volume to the outfits.

Tapur’s green velvet corset was teamed with a maroon lehenga, Deepti’s tiered crinoline black and red skirt, Indrani in a grey long sleeved kalidar ensemble with glittering yoke and sleeve and Iris in shades of pink net and chiffon for a swirling angarkha were all majestic. The kalidar full circle kurtas were mainly teamed with churidars, harem pants, salwars or skirts. Embellishments were rich and edged necklines, sleeves, hemlines and often covered the complete garments. The finale of the show was Candice in a stunning green long sleeved velvet heavily encrusted crystal and zardozi jacket teamed with a layered lehenga.

Men’s wear was sophisticated with black sherwanis, grey green shaded silk jackets, striped ivory kurtas many with selective embroidery and were all worn with billowy salwars, Turkish pants or cowled churidars.

A great stylist Manish created long bubble pony tails for the female models and selected the most gorgeous jewellery from Anmol Jewellers to highlight his collection.

The first edition of the Aamby Valley India Bridal Week 2010 was a well orchestrated event and closed with the exquisite Grand Finale Bridal Collection from Manish Malhotra, considered one of the top designers in the country
