JONA PRESENTED ASHIMA LEENA’S BRIDAL WEAR IN A REDEFINED OPULENT LOOK AT THE AAMBY VALLEY INDIA BRIDAL WEEK 2010 SHOW.
It was ‘Opulence Redefined’ all the way in the fabulous bridal wear show at the Aamby Valley India Bridal Week 2010 presented by designers Ashima and Leena. Opting for a mélange of tones with mustard, emerald, fuchsia, crimson, deep blue and purple, the duo mixed the rich textures of silk with the glittering glamour of KimKhaab from Benaras. The ensembles were intricately embellished with gold and silver dazzling motifs from the traditional eras of the past.
The prancing dancing peacock, the graceful paisleys and the ever popular butties were highlighted by the dramatic kundan work and sparkling stones that were used to embellish the garments. The stately silhouettes of the creations that moved down the 240 ft ramp that snaked through five levels, turned into a memorable vision. The brightly lit spacious atrium of the Sahara Star Hotel was a perfect venue with the giant palms of the Tropical Lagoon as a natural backdrop setting.
Full circle ghagras, anarkali kurtas, faishi pajamas, kurtis and kalidaar saris appeared in quick succession on the runway; while bustiers, halters and shrugs added a contemporary touch to the bridal collection.
Opening the show with an all white collection of draped lungi sari with silver halter bikini top the designers moved to a kerchief hem tunic with embroidered bodice worn with billowy churidars, the draped sari gown, the cowl churidars with hip length silver blouse and a white satin lean kurta with flowing faishi pajamas. Sucheta in a white satin sari with black silver work had a striking matching choli, while the black section had an elegant sari with gold border but for Hemangi it was a gold black draped churidars with jewelled neck tunic that was eye catching.
Onto the brocade section Ashima and Leena had calf length coats but for Simran Kaur Mundi it was an elaborate brocade sari. Alesia ramped in a turquoise silk kurta with shimmering churidars, and Simran appeared once again in a sharara with a will power brocade tunic, while Deepa in a kedia style trapeze kurta and fitted churidars proved the versatility of the designing pair’s creativity.
For the finale the designers announced their showstopper’s arrival with the theme from the award winning film Jodha Akbar as Neetu Chandra, Bollywood star of Garam Masala, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye and many other hits, regally glided down the ramp in a dazzling fully encrusted red lehenga with a tiny matching choli and a red tulle embroidered dupatta.
The sensational jewellery by Gitanjali that glittered on the models was a perfect accessory to the opulent collection.
