WHITE CITY ENTERTAINMENT PVT LTD & MEHUL KUMAR launch original blockbuster KRANTIVEER’s sequel “KRANTIVEER-THE REVOUTIONâ€. Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia honour with the Mahurat Clap. Jahan Bloch makes her Bollywood debut.
Mumbai, 27th of March, 2009: White City Entertainment Pvt Ltd and Mehul Kumar launched their prestigious film KRANTIVEER- THE Revolution, the sequel to the Mega-blockbuster Krantiveer of 1994 at a glittering event held at J. W. Marriot on 27th March, 2009. Shri Amitabh Bachchan, who has worked with Mehul Kumar, made his gracious presence at the launch. Also present were the gorgeous Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Jeetendra apart from host of other dignitaries from Bollywood.
Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia the leading stars of the original Blockbuster Krantiveer gave the Mahurat Clap at the glittering event. Entire starcast was there to celebrate the launch of Krantiveer – The Revolution – Jahan Bloch, Sameer Aftab, Kelly Dorji, Ranjit, Farida Jalal, Govind Namdeo, Mukesh Rishi, Aman Verma, Ashok Samarth, Aditya Singh Rajput and Harsh Rajput alongwith Director Mehul Kumar.
With this film, WHITE CITY ENTERTAINMENT marks its entry in Hindi Cinema with an established name as Mehul Kumar. And they plan to produce atleast three Hindi films every year which would range from medium to mega budget films. The original Krantiveer which was released in the year 1994 was not only a mega blockbuster but also a winner of the many awards like Three Star Screen Awards, Four Filmfare Awards and one National Film Award.
Along present to light the diya alongwith Mr. Bachchan were Shri J.P DANGE, DEPUTY CHIEF SECRETARY, REVENUE & FOREST, GOVT OF MAHARASHTRA, and Shri JAYANT GAIKWAD SECRETARY FOR CULTURE & TOURISM, Govt. of MAHARASHTRA.
Also making her entry in bollywood is the young and talented artiste JAHAN BLOCH. Jahan plays daughter of the fiery Nana Patekar in the original KRANTIVEER. Taking the story forward, Jahan plays a fiery journalist who is set to lead the revolution against terrorism, violence and corruption.. Joining her in this battle is Sameer Aftab, who plays the lead opposite her. Jahan Bloch is making her bollywood debut with this movie.
Mehul Kumar the director of Krantiveer speaking on the launch said, “It’s really the most memorable moment in my life, since out of the entire movie which I have directed krantveer has always been close to my heart. And the joyous feeling of directing the sequel of the movie is something which is very hard for me to express in word. And also my daughter Jahan making a debut with this movie is also the icing on the cake. What more can I ask, from God?
Krantiveer was a film directed by Mehul Kumar, released on July 22, 1994. The film starred artists as Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, Atul Agnihotri, Mamta Kulkarni, Danny Denzongpa and Paresh Rawal in lead roles. The film was a major critical and commercial success; it became the third highest grossing film of the year, additionally winning three Star Screen Awards, four Filmfare Awards and one National Film Award.
Mehul Kumar an eminent feature film director, producer and writer, has devoted 32 years in film industry since 1977. He has directed some of the most noted actors in Bollywood, such as Raj Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Jitendra, Satrughan Sinha, Feroze Khan, Shabana Aazmi, Tabu, Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, Madhuri Dixit, Naseeruddin Shah, Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor. Some of his famous works in bollywood include, Jaago (2004), Kitne Door… Kitne Paas (2002), Kohram (1999),Mrityudaata (1997), Krantiveer (1994) and Tirangaa (1992). He is mostly recognized for his cinematic depiction of patriotism in his films.
Synopsis
The young daughter of the man responsible for the last revolution Pratap Narayan Tilak is now wielding the power of media as a fearless journalist. Roshni has inherited not only the courage and sting of her legendary father but also the spirited lingo and the indomitable style. The last time around, we rooted out the devils that came from across the seas. Now, the demons are within. And they are more vicious and wicked. We need to fight them with a new force and energy. The youth. They are now ready to act only to stop, when they have achieved their mission to rid the society of evils corruption and anarchy.
Roshni acts as a pivot of the revolution and gets along her determined college mates Vishal, Uday and Goldie. The story takes all of them on a mission to rid the present society of the evils, a revolution for cleaning the system. Would this revolution shake the nation into searching its conscience and see peace, freedom and justice for all?
