On Saturday, Mumbai woke up to welcome its coolest, newest and one of the best sound studios – Orbis! A lavish Open House was hosted at this Khar studio to announce its opening. Celebrity well-wishers such as Rajkumar Hirani, Shaan, Kunal Ganjawala, with singer-wife Gayatri Iyer, Ila Arun and daughter Ishita Arun, musicians Uday Mazumdar and Rajat Dholakia and cinematographer Kiran Deohans came to wish luck and success to the partners Bishwadeep Chatterjee and Abhishek Pandey. It was a stylish do where refreshing mocktails flowed, exquisite gourmet food was served in wooden platters and petite cupcakes were dolloped down by the guests.
Many guests who came in were pleasantly surprised at the thought that was given to every small detail – from the equipment set-up to the private space for sitting back and thinking. Says Bishwadeep Chatterjee, who is the sound designer of films such as 3 Idiots, the Munnabhai series, Devdas, Vicky Donor, etc, “I have worked in hundreds of studios in the past 25 years. I knew exactly what to keep and what to totally avoid. Acoustically, I am proud to say that Orbis is one of the best that you can get in the city. Our aim is to never compromise on quality and deliver beyond the client’s expectations.” Adds Abhishek, “We wanted to create a space that’s both, technologically better than most in the business and aesthetically tasteful. Orbis is everything I would want in a sound studio – technically excellent, bright, colourful, quiet, personal and a place that lets me ideate. We slogged for months and the way everything has shaped up, it has exceeded even our expectations!”
The celebrations that began in the morning went on till way past midnight, with well-wishers pouring-in in large numbers to see the studio. If this was any indication of the journey ahead, Orbis is headed towards scaling great heights! Here’s wishing them all the success!
