Poonam Soni, Nawaz Singhania come together to launch S2, a contemporary jewellery label. S2 launch range comprises stylish French sautoirs; Innovative concept range combines a jewellery stylish design with a miniature painting.

Renowned luxury jewellery designer Poonam Soni and celebrity artist Nawaz Singhania announced the launch of their all-new jewellery label – S2, amidst an elite audience of industrialists, designers and Bollywood guests at a Special Preview hosted at Tote On the Turf on thursday 9th June 2011
S2, a new range of limited edition signature jewellery represents the coming together of the distinctive artistic strengths of both Nawaz and Poonam. A pioneer of jewelled art and bespoke jewellery, Poonam has conceptualized this collection in the form of innovative French sautoirs. This collection is cleverly woven around miniature paintings by Nawaz.

Each of the French sautoirs of this range, inspired by Bohemian styling uses multi mediums in stones, gems & leather. They are detachable and can either be worn as a long drape or as a neck piece.” The paintings by Nawaz, as part of the sautoirs, are oil on canvas and are of a 2×4 sq inch dimension, revolving around the concept of movement and speed.

Laila Lamba, Pooja Bedi, Ira Dubey, Mana Shetty and Kriti Soni (Poonam’s daughter) made a statement in stunning style as they attended the Preview wearing French Sautoirs from the S2 line.

The French Sautoirs were displayed beautifully in glass showcases in a glittering ambience that spelt refined taste and elegance. Guests seen admiring the bejewelled works of art included Dr Swati Piramal, Rukshana & Mustafa Eisa, Madhoo Shah, Divya Mohta, Sangita Jindal, Ananya Goenka, Sangeeta Assomull with son Gaurav, Pallavi Kanoria, Ashok & Reena Wadhwa, Bharat Shah, AD & Sabina Singh, Rashmi Uday Singh, Nisha Jamwval, Shaina NC, Priya Kataria Puri, Meghna Oberoi, Aditya Hitkari & Divya Palat amongst many others. Also present on the occassion were Vijaypath & Gautam Singhania.

Says Poonam Soni, “I’ve treated these sautoirs as stylish yet casual neck pieces using a mixed medium of silver, gold, antique rose cuts with precious gems. With unusual stones, the S2 range of French sautoirs symbolize an art style that intricately balances ancient Indian craftsmanship in patchi style motifs, weaving them around a modern concept. The ethereal blend of the enamoring ancient with the trendy modern is the key characteristic feature of the jewellery pieces. The antique rosecuts studded silver chains are punctuated at places by ‘bugs’ and real leather loops. They are perfect for a woman who looks for statement pieces for that art afternoon or an informal cocktail evening.

According to Nawaz Singhania, “The miniature paintings are a derivative of my series of paintings on dance, fitness and speed. As with my large canvas paintings, these miniatures are also all in vibrant hues and glorify the woman.”

The concept of the collection itself has evoked much interest and some enthusiastic buyers have already booked the pieces. The 2011 range of S2 jewellery has been christened the ‘Born Free’ series.

Talking about the S2 brand, Nawaz said, “Art being a common passion for Poonam and me has manifested itself in the birth of this unique jewellery brand S2, which aspires to make stylish jewellery annually for women who have an eye for art jewellery. The S2 range of jewellery will have our individual signatures engraved on them, to reiterate that the brand signifies the coming together of our creative best.”
