As usual, Before starting up the Review, Let me “Warn” you that Horror Story is definitely not for people with Weak Hearts, Blood Pressure and Heart problems. This movie is also not suitable for the audience who looks out for Romance or a Love Story in a Film. But if you are a “Horror” film fans, Trust me you really cannot afford to miss Horror Story at any cost.

Horror Story tells a Horror Story of seven college friends Achint (Nishant Malkani), Maghesh (Ravish Desai), Samrat (Hasan Zaidi), Maggie (Aparna Bajpai), Neena (Radhika Menon) and Sonia (Nandini Vaid) who in order to bid farewell to Neel (Karan Kundra) enter hotel Grandiouse, which is sealed for years knowing the fact that its haunted. They say, It was a Mental Asylum earlier. Things take a devilish turn when one of their friends gets killed and all others get trapped in the dark world of Evil Spirits in the Hotel.

Horror Story may remind you of some Hollywood or International Films made on this similar lines earlier, But what stands out is the treatment and honesty from the house of Vikram Bhatt which deserves an ovation.

Performance wise, Karan Kundra stands out along with other actors who performed very well gelling with the complete story. Films like Horror Story surely depends upon performances, But most importantly, Such films depends on the Treatment.

Ayush Raina debuts as a Director with Horror Story and he does full justice with the screenplay provided by Vikram Bhatt and Mohan Azad. Ayush successfully creates that particular required eerie atmosphere with the Scenes, Camera work and Background Score. Ayush makes sure that once the viewer is seated on his seat, He or She is tied up till the last reel of the film. The Camera work and Production Values are also good and helps the film to scare you more. The Background Score is wonderful.

Horror Films may have a very less life in Cinemas, But such films are widely watched and appreciated on Televisions and DVD’s. And if there are more films like Horror Story, Bollywood can surely stand out in Horror Films market too.

Horror Story can be easily termed as India’s answer to The Evil Dead! Don’t miss this scary ride.

The below review is by Subhash K. Jha (Rating: 3/5)

And then there were numb. Horror of horrors! Imagine a Hindi horror film, which takes no song breaks, no respite for comedy or romance … no room for anything except the terror.

Horror Story” is one of the bluntest most direct tales of terror to be unleashed in recent times. The feeling of being trapped with a group of youngsters, who would want to be anywhere except the place that the spooky script selects for them, stays with us till the end.

Uppermost in the script is a sense of impending catastrophe. Producer-writer Vikram Bhatt has always been attracted to terror and the occult. But when an A-lister actress runs around in skimpy clothes trying to look terrified, one does get distracted.

It is a monster-stroke to cast completely new faces in “Horror Story“. The young cast is competent and capable of carrying the chills forward to its fatal finale.

Debutant director Ayush Raina shoots the grisly goings-on with the minimum stress on conventional sounds and visuals associated with the horror genre. Belatedly the horror genre has chanced upon the relevance of austerity in putting forward the panic and terror of youngsters trapped in a situation where they cannot escape from a satanic annihilation.

Familiar fear is here transmitted into a slickly spun yarn that keeps you glued to the gore.

The narrative is clustered together into a collage of scenes evoking a sense of growing foreboding.

Gargey Trivedi’s cinematography at once creates a sense of urgency and doom.

The characters are captured in postures of desperate resignation to a situation over which they have no control. Luckily for these unlucky youngsters, the director is in full control of their destiny.

Amar Mohile’s background score comes and goes insistently reminding us of the monster that manoeuvres mortality into the fast lane.

A scare-fest that makes your blood freeze and flesh crawl, “Horror Story” is your worst nightmare come true. Shot in colours that contour the flavour of dread and doom, the feel-fear flick has moment that make your heart skip a beat.

For those who like their terror served piping-hot, this one is on top of the menu.
