ARROKH KHAMBATA PRESENTS “AMADEUS” AT THE NCPA, MUMBAI. From the man who gave the city “Joss” one of the finest Far Eastern cuisine restaurants and “Rampart Row Banquets” and “Catering & Allied” a much sought after catering unit, comes yet another sublime offering ………..Farrokh Khambata proudly presents “Amadeus” at the National Centre Of Performing Arts, Nariman Point, Mumbai.

With “Amadeus”, Mumbai now joins the ranks of culturally rich cities such as London, NewYork,, Sydney,Paris and Vienna that have a fine dine restaurant within the precincts of their culture & arts hub.In a city with a serious dearth of places where fine food, arts & culture and a stylish ambience take centrestage, “Amadeus” comes like a breath of fresh air.

At “Amadeus”, Farrokh presents a gourmand experience, par excellence. An innovative repertoire of Levantine, Spanish and Eastern Mediterranean cuisine, at par with the best international culinary standards and trends, take fine dining in the city to the next level.
Special Opening Parties were hosted by Farrokh Khambata with wife Dilshad over the weekend of 1st and 2nd July 2011 which saw the whos who of the city in attendance. Seen admiring the chic ambiences & enjoying the refreshingly new cuisine were guests like Shobhaa & Dilip De, Dipti Salgaoncar, Laxman & Sunita Shreshta, Kunika Singh, Rina Shah, Schauna & Bikram Saluja, Sharmilla & Shaan Khanna, Divya Mohta, Queenie Singh, Farhad Taraporewala, Madhoo Shah, Rukshana Eisa, Anna Bredmeyer, Pooja Bedi, Vidya Malvade, Dipti Bhatnagar, Azeem & Sameena Khan, Lata Patel, Suresh & Deveika Bhojwani, Nisha Javeri, Samrat & Shalini Zaveri, Alka Nishar, Gary Lawyer amongst several other beautiful people of Mumbai.

As guests walked into the lavish space, they were greeted with the elegantly appointed bar which had a live band rocking the night away with a mix of retro & new age numbers. The bar lead into the plush restaurant area and private dining room. The menu for the night featuring Levantine & Spanish specialites like Albigondas of Lamb, Sherry Stuffed Goats Cheese in Mushrooms, Chicken Pinchos glazed with Hariisa Tzatziki, Serrano Ham Cocas (flat bread), Tagine of Apricot & Chicken, Salmon with Kefir & Juniper, Lamb Rack with Avacado. The meal ended with signature desserts like Tarte Tatin of Golden Apples with Cinnamon, Chocolate & Grand Marnier Souffle.

An array of speciality cocktails and some of the best wines were served as guests circulated and congratulated the Khambatas.

“Amadeus” is a space that beautifully reflects the cultural ethos of its location, with its plush, contemporary interiors designed by famed architect Phirosa Neterwala of Neterwala and Aibara associates.. Its lavish, luxurious design makes “Amadeus” one of the most refined, quietly stylish restaurants in the city today .”Amadeus” is for those with a taste for the finer things in life.

The evening do which saw Farrokh & Dilshad Khambata playing the warm hosts, was a classy, elegant affair and a beautiful blend of fine food, superb wines, good music and of couse sparkling conversation.

An array of Cocas –Spanish Flatbread with interesting toppings such as Serrano ham with Rocket and Onion Confit, Pinchos skewered meat and shellfish from the Basque region of spain, Morrcon Tagines, Saffron flavored Paellas, with Bomba Rice and fresh seafood and of course a scintillating array of Tapas (or small plates) capture the myriad tastes of Spanish and Levantine cuisine.. The menu also features Mains like Lobster ala parisienne with grain mustard and the famed Saratoga Lamb rack, that are a treat to the senses. The Succulent Black Cod with a Red Miso Port sauce puts the icing on the cake.

Keeping his philosophy of restauranting, Farrokh s created an exemplary vegetarian menu. For tapas there is Clumped corn in Chimichurri Aiolli, Catalan patata bravas, Grilled musromms with Pedro Ximenes sherry lacquer, Pankho crusted stuffed Raboiloa cheese.

Farrokh’s signature Desserts are nearly a piece of Art. Tarte tatin of Golden apples . Phyllo wrapped Spiced Pear Strudel with Goats cheese Fondant, Hot Chocole souuflle with Grand Marnier and an array of home made icecreams complete the gourmet experience..

.The cuisine at “Amadeus” is a masterful blend of flavors presented in a Med-European style.

While the ingredients used are seasonal and very fresh, the food is created with an ingenious flair . These gourmand creations are augmented by a superlative wine list, surprise cocktail list and a well stocked Bar. All efforts have been made to organize an exemplary service team.

While the restaurant is all about understated affluence, the cultural significance of the space comes to life with the large sepia toned, black & white images of some of the finest masters in the world of music. Other images of flamenco dancers and an orchestra, give the space an identity that truly complements its decor and location. A beautiful, Ostler chandelier passed down from generations adds a befitting finishing touch of muted grandeur to “Amadeus”.

A private dining area for groups, gives one the luxury of privacy and personalised service whilst enjoying Farrokh’s signature specialities at “Amadeus”.
