April 10, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): It’s really confounding why most of the big budgets are on the make for more than 3 years. You point this question to such filmmakers and instantaneously they come up with a mere comparison with ace filmmaker James Cameron’s showpieces – ‘Titanic’ and ‘Avatar’.
Soon after the release of ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’, we could see Selvaraghavan pulling James Cameron into the context of making his film for 12 years. In all likelihood, director Shankar too comes up with the same scenario when it was time to speak about delay of his magnum-opus ‘Endhiran’.
The film started rolling nearly before couple of months and till now there haven’t been any signs of completion. The recent buzzes rounding upon air is that film’s release may get postponed to Diwali or in December. When asked Shankar about it, he apparently made a statement, “Why didn’t anyone ask James Cameron of making ‘Avatar’ for 12 years. Even ‘Endhiran’ is a sci-fi thriller with lots of special effects. Precisely, you’ll feel that the wait was worthy….”
