May 29, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Vijay is one of the very popular actors in the Tamil film industry. But, even that was not enough to carry off his golden jubilee film Sura. The actor and playback singer, who has given some amazing hits in the past such as Khushi and Pokiri, has recently been facing flak by the audiences. His last films Villu and Vettaikaaran, were both flops.
This is probably the reason behind everyone’s huge expectation from his latest movie Sura. This movie happens to be the 50th movie of Vijay. The Tamil Nadu theatre owners decided to release the movie despite the previous flops counting on the actor’s popularity. But, unfortunately, for the theatre owners as well as Vijay, the film was a big flop and not many turned out to watch the film.
Soon after the disaster, the theatre owners and distributors held a meeting and collectively decided to ask for a refund. The refund would be a part of the amount that they had paid as ‘minimum guarantee’ on the movie. They want at least a 40 percent of the amount back from Vijay. They have also claimed that if they do not receive compensations from the star for their losses, they will boycott all his future projects.
Looks like Vijay’s 50th movie can hugely cost him rather than help boost his sagging career!
