Dr. Rajkumar’s three sons divided the responsibilities between themselves on their father’s birthday, on Saturday. This year, which marked the 81st birth anniversary of Dr. Rajkumar and is celebrated as ‘Dr. Rajkumar Jayanthi’ by the Karnataka government, was chosen to start the ‘Rajakumar Souhardha Prashasti’. Three veterans from the film industry were chosen by the family members of Dr. Rajkumar to present the ‘Rajakumar Souhardha Prashasti’ to.
Yesteryear actress Shanthamma, director SK Bhagwan and veteran actor Shivaram were honored with the maiden awards at Hotel Ashok in a touching style. All the three remembering Dr. Rajkumar collected tears in their eyes.
According to Shivarajakumar, the Dr. Rajakumar Souhardha Award consists of Rs.1 lakh cash, a citation, garland, shawl and certificate. The awards, which started from this year, will be given to contemporaries of Dr. Rajkumar.
Raghavendra Rajkumar spoke on behalf of the Rajkumar Trust and disclosed that the Eye operations are held for children and elderly people in Anekal, Kolar, Tumkur, Hoskote, Gubbi and Shankarapuram. He revealed that the last wish of Dr. Rajakumar was ‘Nethra Dhana Maha Dhana’ and that the Rajkumar Trust has taken up various eye related camps and operations under this slogan.
Dr. Rajkumar’s third son and Kannada cinema’s reigning hero Puneeth Rajakumar gave a brief introduction to the book ‘Dr. Rajkumar – the person behind personalities’ and also screened some of the pages of the book that will be released either in September or November this year. He reveals that he had the idea of releasing a book on his father back when the legendary actor was alive and now after six years, the dream had materialized into reality. The book will be in English so as to reach people universally.
